A ruby red wine with lighter violet shades at the edge of the glass.
Raspberry and blackberry fruit on the nose, with coffee, toast and vanilla notes adding intensity. The palate is well structured with a pleasing balance of tannin, alcohol and acidity. The fruit is in harmony with the characteristics of a brief period oak ageing, manifesting itself in the form of spice, toasted coffee and woody notes. The finish is fruity and gently toasty.
Unusually for a Rioja of this category (“Joven”), the winemaker allow the wine a six month stay in second and third fill barriques. This adds texture, character and flavour to an already enjoyable wine.
