A long mild growing season in Coonawarra, South Australia, provides the ideal climate for Sauvignon Blanc.
The grapes for This Sauvignon Blanc were picked at the coolest time of the day to protect the fruit, then carefully fermented to ensure the retention of the pristine characters of each variety. The grapes were harvested over several weeks enabling Hollick’s winemaker and viticulturist to capture a range of flavours extending from green and herbaceous characters to the more complex and tropical flavours of ripe fruit.
The Bard range celebrates the work of Australia’s best known lyric poet, John Shaw Neilson, who was raised in the cottage on the Hollick Neilson’s Block vineyard.
Neilson was born in Penola in 1872, and it is thought that much of the imagery in his poems was conjured up during his childhood experiences in the swampy bushland around Coonawarra.
