This Mercurey is grown in the limestone and marl soils of the Côte Chalonnaise. The 40 year old vines have produced some majestic fruit from which this Maison Chanzy Mercurey 1er Cru Clos Du Roy Blanc 2013 was made. Fermentation took place in 30% new Burgundian oak barrels for 10 months.
It has a spicy, floral bouquet and a juicy, citrus appeal that destine it to partner grilled fish, seafood and hard cheeses.
White Mercurey such as this can also make a wonderful pre-dinner drink.
