The two grape varieties in this wine work really well together. There are the sweet and savoury Merlot notes which mingle well with the elegant but powerful Tannat, Gascon grape.
This is a wine that is surprisingly inexpensive that can be drunk with many different types of food. It is very well balanced with a depth of flavour of blackcurrant, bramble and small red fruit, with the addition of spices.
There are no oaky flavours to detract from the pure fruit and this makes it a great quaffing wine in all seasons.
